What is Neuro Linguistic Programming?

NLP was developed in the mid seventies by Richard Bandler and John Grinder.  They studied the behaviours and thought processes of people who were considered to have achieved excellence in their chosen field; Namely, Fritz Perls the founder of gestalt psychology, Virginia Satir the foremost practitioner of family therapy and Milton Erikson the father of clinical hypnosis.

They studied and modelled how these people thought, felt and acted so they could pass on their extraordinary interpersonal skills to other people.  From these studies a whole host of techniques and methodologies arose and has evolved into what we know today as the applied psychology called Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP).

NLP is defined as 'The Technology of Personal Excellence'.

The results of this work are nowadays presented in workshops and extended trainings which, in effect, provide shortcuts to more successful living - you learn in hours what may have taken the experts years to discover by trial and error.

Why call it NLP?

Someone once said that "NLP has many strengths, a clear and helpful name isn't one of them"

We agree, the name certainly is a bit of a mouthful but the name Neuro-Linguistic Programming has been around for nearly 30 years and is continuing to grow in recognition and popularity.  In fact you could say that if something with such a strange name can become this popular then it must be good!

What do we mean by Applied Psychology? 

We mean the application of advanced thinking, problem solving and communication drawn from the disciplines of NLP, Hypnosis, Spiral Dynamics, Emotional Intelligence, Learning Theory, Persuasion and Influencing skills and more.... Our extensive knowledge of these subjects equips us to synthesise knowledge in a way that gets results for you..FAST! 

In the competitive market of Britain today outdated models of business and skills training are at best limited and at worst useless. Similarly, confidence training or presentation skills training which doesn't draw on latest psychological theories will soon be as outdated in the world of communication skills as the Acorn computer is in the world of information technology.

Knowing what to do to bring about change is simply not enough in our book, no matter how pretty the slides are. Unfortunately, what those books don't do and what old fashioned training courses don't do is show YOU, you as the individual, how to do it. 

Outdated training models can't flexibly lead you to where you want to be simply because they don't incorporate the innovations in applied psychology that you experience on one of our courses. The use of hypnotic language patterns is a case in point, these patterns bring about fast, effective change in your listeners, they plant a seed for ideas to grow and help people fulfil their potential and create win/win situations. They are a powerful communication tool but are too often regarded with sceptism or fear. This sceptism and fear comes from ignorance and in our opinion you are wasting your money if you hire a coach, trainer or consultant that holds outdated views on applied psychology. All the top corporations, politicians, sports stars and many others pay 'gurus' like Antony Robbins to coach them for success. What are these 'gurus' using..YES, that's right, NLP, hypnosis and applied psychology.
